25 square meter apartment

A lot of people are being put off when they hear about a 25 square meter apartment. That's too small! Is that right? It depends on who is gonna live there but for my good friend Kelly this is more than enough.
Off course every girl dreams about that walk in closet or a separate home office, and a bigger bedroom or bathroom would be nice. But when you're looking for an apartment, ask your self is it a MUSTHAVE?
Because as a freelance dancer she is always on the road but when she is at home she loves to make it cosy but at the same time also comfortable.

The first time I stepped into this little cute apartment I was happy to see that there is so much white. Nothing makes me happier than to see a lot of white in a small space ;)
Eventually white does make the room look bigger than it actually is.
In contrast of all the white Kelly uses a little bit of wood, copper, brown and orange elements to make it her own, which I think its a perfect match.

Bedroom:
White combined with a mirror always works because the light will always reflect on the mirror.

Kitchen / living room:
Just imagine that she has only 12 square meter space to entertain, cook and relax.

What I like to share when people choose to live small is, by embracing the small space life style you will have to make smart choices and you'll become really conscious of what you will bring into your life.

Take a moment to think about what you have and start thinking about how it is serving your life and what it means to you. If you feel there is something you can get rid off right away, Just do it!

Be conscious and choose for small living and a bigger life.
Enjoy your weekend guys.

On the side

Just a little side table to display all your little belongings. This little modern glass side table I found once again on marktplaats. Maybe I should change the name of my blog because lately it's all about my second hand bargains.

It was the modern, light and retro look that peaked my interest and made me bid on this item. When it comes to small places you really need to play with objects that you can move around the house.
The most challenging thing about living in small spaces is just controlling your possessions. I must say I'm getting better at that, because I'm allowing myself to enjoy empty spaces, but a table 'on the side' is always welcome.

"Have a seat."

As you might have noticed I love to shop secondhand when it comes to furniture.

Last Friday when I was moving some chairs around in the apartment I was thinking that it would be nice to have an all white folding chair around. So when I found this vintage 1978 Ikea folding chair designed by Danish Niels Gammelgaard on marktplaats, I had to bid.
This chair had such a simple appearance, that it fit right away into our home environment.
It's light,see-through and foldable. Basically it has everything what u need in a small space like ours.
So for the next guest that visits our place I'll say:"Have a seat."

A new view ( part 2 )

Is it a crime to post about the same room twice? Our new carpet arrived yesterday and my fingers getting itchy to putt this new view on camera.

My dream in this apartment would be an all white floor. But I know thats not gonna happend any day soon I have decided to choose an all white carpet instead. I order mine at bol.com from a brand Quartigo, this carpet has an easy maintenance and that is the main reason that we've chosen this one.
So from now on Aoki has a little rectangular island to play on.

Enjoy your weekend guys!

A new view

Our living room has always been a work in progress. Because its one of the rooms that we use the most as a family.
I wanted to create a living space that is light, spacious, low maintenance and most of all comfortable for all family members.

So why did I choose this couch? You guys heard me talking about the colour white always brings brighttnes in small spaces. This couch has been a piece I've thought about adding to our living room for a year but after finding out that this Arild couch has been out of collection at Ikea I went looking second hand. So when I saw this jewerly on Dutch 'marktplaats' I couldn't resist it. Now we have this lovely piece in our living room and it has everything I was looking for.
- tip: a dark colour couch on a white wall will stand out and making it seem like the couch is coming to you. So choose a light colour palette that blends in because you need to avoid to much contrast between the walls, floors and furniture.

So before we go off and celebrate our weekend. I wanted to share our new couch and so our new view!
